FAQ
Emergency Plumbing FAQ
Emergencies don’t read the clock. Here’s how we think about urgency, what you can do before we arrive, and how our crew responds.
What qualifies as a plumbing emergency?⌄
Broadly: uncontrolled water, sewage where it shouldn’t be, gas odor paired with failed heating equipment (call 911 first), or anything risking injury or major property damage. When unsure, call—we’ll triage.
How fast do you respond after hours?⌄
We maintain true 24/7 availability for Springfield metro routes. Dispatch depends on crew location and job load; we’ll quote realistic ETA when you call.
What should I do first for a burst pipe?⌄
If safe, shut the main water valve and open a lowest faucet to bleed pressure. Move valuables, kill power to wet areas if water threatens outlets, and call us with photos if possible.
Where is my main shutoff usually?⌄
Often inside near where water enters the basement/crawl, garage, or utility closet—sometimes outside under a meter box lid. If you can’t find it, we’ll coach you while en route.
No hot water—is that an emergency?⌄
Sometimes—infants, elders, or businesses may need immediate restoration. Gas odors or leaking heater tanks are urgent. Lukewarm annoyance might wait until morning—we’ll help you decide.
Sewage backing up in a shower—what now?⌄
Stop using water inside, avoid the affected area if aerosols concern you, and call. Multiple fixtures gurgling usually signals main line trouble needing prompt attention.
Are temporary fixes OK?⌄
Towels, buckets, and safe clamp-offs can slow damage—don’t risk electrical contact with standing water. Permanent repairs require proper diagnosis.
Will after-hours service cost more?⌄
Many companies use premium labor rates nights/weekends—we’ll explain pricing expectations before major work starts.
Do you handle commercial emergencies?⌄
Yes—restaurants, retail, offices, and mechanical rooms. Bring alarm codes and parking notes so we move fast.
Should I call insurance before you?⌄
Mitigate damage first (photos/video help claims). We focus on stopping loss; insurance timing varies by carrier.
What info speeds dispatch?⌄
Address, cross streets, whether water/electric can be isolated, affected fixtures count, kids/elderly safety concerns, and gate/access quirks.
Can hard water emergencies differ?⌄
Scale fragments can jam cartridges or clog restriction points—symptoms mimic other failures. Testing history helps us narrow cause faster.
Hard water wears heaters and fixtures faster across the Ozarks—see our Hard Water & Softening FAQ for the full picture.
